About the Top Ten


  1. Top Ten Settlements: largest securities class action settlements for cases filed since the passage of the PSLRA.
  2. Longest Lawsuits: determined by the date of the first identified filing in federal district court.
  3. Plaintiff Law Firms: determined by number of cases where the law firms were appointed as lead counsel. If there is no court-appointed lead counsel, we substitute the law firms that filed the latest operative complaint.
  4. Defendant Firms: determined by number of cases where the law firms were listed as representing defendants on dockets in the federal district courts.
