Sempra Energy is a North American energy infrastructure company based in San Diego, California. Sempra Energy's focus is on electric and natural gas infrastructure.

According to the law firm press release, the Complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, Defendants made materially false and misleading statements regarding the Company’s business, operations, cash position, prospects, and internal controls. Specifically, Defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (i) SoCalGas lacked the capability to expeditiously repair gas leaks, causing a public hazard; (ii) an extended hazardous gas leak would constitute a serious threat to public health and safety; and (iii) as a result of the foregoing, Defendants’ public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times.

On June 6, 2016, the Court issued an Order appointing Lead Plaintiffs and Counsel. Lead Plaintiffs filed an amended Complaint on July 26.

On June 20, 2017, the Court dismissed this case with leave to amend. Plaintiffs filed an amended Complaint on July 11. On August 25, Defendants filed a Motion to Dismiss the amended Complaint. On March 26, 2018, the Court issued an Order granting Defendants' Motion to Dismiss and dismissing the case with prejudice. On January 28, 2019, Lead Plaintiffs filed a Notice appealing the Dismissal Order. On June 25, Plaintiffs filed a Motion for Reconsideration of the Dismissal Order. On September 18, the Court issued an Order denying Plaintiffs' Motion for Reconsideration. Plaintiffs filed a Notice appealing the denial of the Reconsideration Order on October 18.
