EXCERPT: SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Greenfield Online Inc. late Thursday reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.78 million, or 10 cents a share, a penny above the mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters. The company swung to a first-quarter net loss of $113,000 from a net profit of $1.96 million, a year earlier. On a per-share basis the results came to breakeven versus a prior-year profit of 7 cents. The company also said that on May 7 it agreed to settle pending class action securities litigation. As a result, Greenfield recorded a one-time net charge of $2 million in the quarter ended March 31. Adjusted results for the most recent quarter exclude the financial impact of the settlement. Revenue rose to $30.9 million from $27.5 million a year earlier, below the mean $32 million analyst estimate. The Wilton, Conn.-based provider of Internet survey products reiterated its 2008 revenue guidance of $143 million to $153 million a share. The stock closed the regular session up 47 cents, or 4.4%, at $11.11 and rose a further 12.4% to $12.49 in after-hours trading.
