EXCERPT: The law firm of Labaton Sucharow LLP announces the pendency and proposed settlement of a class action on behalf of those who purchased or otherwise acquired HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:HCC) securities. TO: ALL PERSONS AND ENTITIES WHO PURCHASED OR OTHERWISE ACQUIRED HCC INSURANCE HOLDINGS, INC. SECURITIES BETWEEN MAY 3, 2005 AND NOVEMBER 17, 2006, INCLUSIVE, AND WERE ALLEGEDLY DAMAGED THEREBY (THE “CLASS”). A hearing will be held at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, before the Honorable Sim Lake in the United States Courthouse, 515 Rusk Avenue, Houston, TX 77002, at 3:00 p.m., on July 17, 2008 to determine whether the proposed settlement should be approved by the Court as fair, reasonable, and adequate, and to consider the application of Plaintiffs’ Counsel for attorneys’ fees and reimbursement of expenses.
