SUBPRIME LITIGATION REPORT SEES 'TSUNAMI'
Staff Writer - The American Lawyer

The Recorder . April 25, 2008

EXCERPT: As if 2007 wasn't bad enough for the mortgage industry, a study on subprime litigation released Wednesday by Navigant Consulting says that 2008 figures will be much worse. According to the report, there were 170 subprime-related cases filed during the first quarter of 2008, almost equal to the 181 filings over the final six months of 2007. Navigant says the total amount of filings -- of which there were 278 last year -- is close to surpassing the litigation of the early 1990s during the savings and loan crisis.
