EXCERPT: A federal judge awarded a leading shareholder suing WorldCom the right to obtain documents that the bankrupt telecommunications firm handed over to the government. The Wall Street Journal reports that U.S. District Judge Denise Cote said Thursday that the New York State Common Retirement Fund, the lead plaintiff in a shareholder lawsuit against WorldCom, would be disadvantaged if it did not have access to the documents. The fund is represented by New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall. Meanwhile, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) official William Baker, who headed up the agency's probe of WorldCom, said he plans to leave the commission to work in the private sector, Bloomberg News and The Wall Street Journal report.
